G1X Lens not retract. Help!! On vacation in Europe ... with no camera!

New G1X. Probably less than 400 shots. Lens extended all the way and froze.  Changed battery. Start up - green power light on, lens moves very slightly out and then a kind of grinding, rhythmic sound .... stuck.  LED is basically white except (1) on the right third there is (a) several colored (green, red,) vertical lines and (b) a black image that looks like a feather, (2) the 'HS' (?) blue logo is very faint.
