Error trying to connect to Web service from my SX530 HS: "Set the correct date and time"

I'm trying to setup my PowerShot SX530 HS to connect directly to the Canon web services.

  • From the camera wi-fi menu I select "Upload to web service"
  • I get the "Camera Web Link Settings" and click on "Authenticate"
  • It finds my access point and then get a message:  "Set the correct date and time"

I have the date and time set and they appear to be correct.  What's really happening?  Why can't I connect?

Hi rjf17ca,

I'm sorry to hear your camera isn't connecting to our image.canon web service. There is one thing to double check with your date and time setting. It would be good to double check the time zone selected on the camera. If the time zone and set date/time on the camera don't match it would cause the message you are seeing.

To check that go back into the Date/Time setting on the camera, set the date and time for your location, and then on the next screen it will list a city name. Select the major city that is in the same time zone as you. Once you've done that try reconnecting to image.canon to see if the same thing happens.

I have the date/time on my camera set to my location.  The time zone on the camera doesn't match what?  I'm not even getting to a login or registration, so what is it comparing the date/time on my camera to?

Which services are you referring to?

The Canon Connect app is supported.

Image.Canon is not supported on the SX530 HS
