Change or Upgrade from Powershot SX30IS

I dropped my sx30is & the zoom lens clicks but won't extend, no other breaks. Is it an easy fix? I really like the vari angle lens & and simple, easy to read features.  Camera stores min$ 275 charge to look at it & they tried to upsell me to a Sony Mirrorless. If not worth it, what is a current model to change to. Used for outdoor photos for creating paintings, used for pics of paintings to enter art shows. Need good quality long zoom to catch details, quality & detail in low light etc  Located in Canada. Thks

Hi and welcome to the forum:
The SX30IS was released 14 years ago and, as such, is well past its service life and will not be economical to fix, even if the parts can be found, which is extremely unlikely.   If you want a similar item, for $700 you can get the much-improved SX70HS: PowerShot SX70 HS.

cheers, TREVOR

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got.  As TREVOR noted, the Powershot SX30IS is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Hi Trevor,

Thank you so much for the information. I have gone on line & Canon  has so many choices it makes it hard to choose. I actually contacted a National Geographic photographer who responded recommending the EOS RP, but that sent me further into the abyss of choices. I get overwhelmed when I read the pros & cons of various Canons within  a reasonable CAD price point for my basic skill level & camera uses as an artist.

Hi Ron, thank you for your advice. Is the #1-800 you gave for the US or the Canon contact in Canada?
