Hi everyone, I have a Canon SX60 HS and, for the second time, I'm facing the same problem I had with my previous unit: difficulty focusing, even in well-lit environments.
The camera has been used very little over the past few months, always stored in a dry place, and has never been dropped or suffered any impact. The issue appeared suddenly, not gradually. And to make sure this isn't an isolated case — besides happening to me twice — a friend of mine also had the same camera and experienced exactly the same problem.
Describing the issue (in Auto mode):
Without zoom: focus works to some extent, but the shutter speed is very low (it used to be 1/800, now it's around 1/100 or less), and the image looks slightly dark.
With zoom: most of the time, it won't focus at all or takes a very long time to lock; the shutter speed drops even further. Also, when I zoom in, I notice what looks like a "filter change" on the screen — the image suddenly gets a bit darker.
I've tried other modes (Av and Tv), but the problem remains.
About the previous repair:
The first time I sent my first SX60 for repair, the tech support said the issue was in the "lens block" and that it would be sent to another company for adjustment. However, the camera came back with the flat ribbon cable cut. Due to excessive delays, I ended up selling the unit to the repair shop itself.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone know what might be causing this defect?
