I bought my Canon Powershot SX740 HS 5 months ago (brand new), and suddenly the flash just stopped working (never dropped & zero contact with water). I have tried literally everything, including changing settings, taking out battery for awhile, resetting the whole camera, etc. The flash still pops up, but even when I manually turn the flash on it still doesn’t work. I am so sad and I don’t know what to do. I loved it so much but now without my flash working the pictures just aren’t the same. I have seen a lot of other people struggling with this problem too.
Should I replace the SD card? Would buying a new battery help? I have seen that the battery doesn’t affect the flash but at this point I will try anything. I would rather not spend a fortune on getting it repaired, so if anyone has any other recommendations I would appreciate it so much.
Also, if I do have to send it in and get it fixed, how would that work if I am not sure if there is a warranty on it and I don't have the packaging it came in?

The camera came with a warranty card. It's unfortunate if you threw it away, as it's a one-year warranty. See it here:

Do you have any proof-of-purchase that shows when you bought it?

Pretty sure you'd have a one-year warranty, but I'm thinking you'd need to have registered the camera to use it. Your camera will have an identification number on it, so get into your MyCanon and register it if you haven't already. Canon is the world's worse website for dealing with problems, but doing that might get you started on getting the help you need. I'm not an expert, so hopefully someone will know more.

OMG, this just happened to me. It was working perfect then all of a sudden stopped. I have had it for 1 year 2 months so unfortunately it is just out of the 1 year warranty, just my luck. I contacted Canon and they said I would have to have it shipped to one of their factories in either CA or VA and gave me form to fill out. I will have to pay for shipping and manufacturing. I was told minor repair starts around $169, standard repair $269, and major repair is $369. I don't want to pay that much to have it shipped if it's a setting or something easy like the battery to fix- I think that's crazy especially after the cost of the camera itself. I did purchase through Walmart online. It would not let me register it on Canon. Come to find out mine is not a USA model because Walmart has some 3rd party sellers. I didn't even know that was a thing!! Canon said I can still get it worked on, but just can't register it. Did you have any luck fixing yours?? I am stuck and do not know what to do. It's gut wrenching.
