I'm using a Canon G7 from 2006 and I recently tried recording a video with it but I'm getting audio static when I play it back. Theres no problems with the video, it's just that all I hear is static, and I'm trying to discern whether it's a setting that I need to change or if it's a problem due to age. I've tried adjusting mic sensitivity under audio and it made no difference.

Try blowing out the built in microphone with a can of compressed air. Only use a short one second burst to avoid any condensation. Repeat a couple of times.

So i've used the compressed air and it's helped with picking up audio, but there's still a static noise that's overpowering the audio

Hello,
It sounds like your Canon G7 might be showing its age. Considering you've already tried adjusting mic sensitivity without success, it could be a sign of hardware wear or a possible internal issue. Try gently cleaning the microphone with canned air to remove any dust or debris. If the problem persists, you might need to seek professional repair services or consider updating to a newer model.
