Can you use the flash on the power shot while recording video?

So that you can get specific help for your problem what model Powershot camera do you have? And are you talking about the built in flash or hotshoe flash?

Most cameras won't use the flash unless you are taking a still shot during the recording. If you want to use the flash as a light source for the video, keep in mind that they are not designed to give continuous light, only the brief flash. You would need to use a different lighting source for that.
