Hi all,
As the title says, I'm trying to find out if it's possible to turn off the audio input on my Canon PowerShot G3X, so that it captures video only. If so, how would I do it? (I know it's a weird question, but I'm working on a research project for which I don't really require audio, and this is something that I need to specify beforehand for privacy issues.)
Thank you!

I thought I was going to have to assert something without direct knowledge, but the manual beat me to it:
Note the dark little box with the exclamation point.

Ohhh, I see. I didn't think of this, as I recently got it and have never used it with headphones. So it's as easy as to plug some and turn down the volume. Thanks so much!

Note, that you are plugging the headphones into the *microphone jack*, not the headphone jack!

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

It's not much of a "feature" if you don't want to be carrying around headphones just to act as a dummy mic input plug.
Avoid that by cutting a plug off of an unneeded cord to use as a dummy plug.
