So I have this camera, and I've had it for a while and have recently started using it a lot, and I tried to connect it to my computer but I need my serial number exept where the serial number is suppost to be, its just grey. I got it on black friday I think maybe 5 years ago. 

this spot is blank.

Is there any other way to find the serial number?

Yeah, you need the serial number to download some of the software.  It should be on the box, too, if you still have it.   However, I fear that you might be the owner of black market gear, which would explain the lack of a serial number.

If you have a copy of the warranty card that came with the camera, then the serial is the number that lists as the body number. On the box, it is the number by the bar code after a parenthesis like (21).

If you still can't access it, you can try posting an unedited image as an attachment. We can sometimes read the serial number from the metadata in an image.
