mx470 not faxing

cmpokey

I have a mx470 and it keeps giving me the error message to replace printer cartridge when I try to fax.  The printer cartridge is fine.  I even took the cartridge out and put it back in.  It still won't fax.  I even tried faxing from the computer.  That won't work either.  Please help.

Thank you.

Hello.

Check to make sure that a new, genuine Canon brand cartridge is being used to prevent any errors.  Also, be sure that the correct types of cartridges are installed.  The ink error will have to be resolved before you will be able to use the fax machine.

It is the original cartridges.  I failed to say that when I am talking on the phone, I hear all the noise that usually tells me a fax is coming in.  Sounds just like a fax you might hear after you dial it and it picks up.  It will do this for a few minutes then finally go silent.  I never get a fax.  I have not received a fax since purchasing this machine almost a year ago.  The other night the machine started doing that usual thing then it progressed to making a whole lot of noise.  There is something else going on since I wrote this question.  I have copied several things since I bought it, but have only faxed a few times.

Do you have any idea how long a warranty this machine has on it?  It is obviously damaged.

Thank you so much!\

ps. I found a way to fax from the computer.  With difficulty it worked.  But I still need to know what is wrong if you can help.

Let me add that I still can copy things since the horrible noise
