I bought a mf641c a few years ago and, other than this problem, have been liking it. But this problem makes me furious: every time I lose power, I need to uninstall and reinstall the printer on any device that uses it. Otherwise, it says the printer isn't there. I've tried to look up troubleshooting, and, to be honest, I have no idea what is applicable to my situation and how to do some of the things that are being advised. I'm guessing it has something to do with the IP address changing, but I don't know how to update the IP address on the devices or find the new IP address on the printer once the original message goes away. I've tried surfing through sub-menus of sub-menus of sub-menus, and I see all kinds of options for changing obscure protocols on different types for different types of IP addresses and this, that, the kitchen sink, etc. But I can never find out the stuff I actually need and how to do what needs to be done with it.
I'm sick to death of this. How do I fix this? I just want to be able to print things without spending 30 of utter frustration seemingly every time it's time to print something. Is there a way to get this thing to just continue to work, like every other printer I've had my entire life? Or is there a way to update the IP address on my device successfully? Or should I set this thing on fire and never buy Canon again?
