imageclass mF217w printing quality too light on some documents when printing a pdf file

My Imageclass MF217w prints too light on some pdf files. I have tried everything. The person in the next office has a HP printer and if I email them to him, they print fine. Could this be a canon issue. It prints fine on some pdf files and not on others. Can anyone offer ant suggestions other than to go buy a HP printer.
