My Image Class MF751Cdw is connected wirelessly to my MacBook (Sequoia 15.7.3) and has worked well for the past year. Today I updated the Canon firmware and now when I try to scan to the computer, I get the message to connect to the computer. The computer shows that it IS connected. But the scanner isn't recognizing it. I am able to print from my computer to the printer without a problem. Please help.

My next suggestion would have been to reinstall the scanner utility.

Greetings,
I suggest reconfirming the path to your destination PC / Folder. You can do this by logging into the remote UI and checking the entry in your address book. Here's my entry as an example, yours will look different since you're on a Mac.

Thank you, I suspect this is the issue. But I'm not a techie, just a home user. How do I find and log into the remote UI? And how do I find the IP address of the printer (or do you mean of my MacBook, which I can find). Thanks.

I'm suddenly having this exact same issue. Scanner has worked flawlessly for two years. Now a stream of "cannot communicate" errors, # 200010, 600104, and 210009 all seen. Sometimes scan will start and abort with error after a few pages, other times will not begin connection. Firmware updated. Mac OS updated. Printer reinitialized in System Settings. Wifi connection verified. Tried ethernet connection but cannot get printer to recognize it. Need a solution or I will have to junk my Canon, with great regret and anger.

I opened Apple Support ticket on this. Tech said she'd had one similar case recently but saw no problem or solution with anything on Apple side.

Printing is unaffected. Only the scanner fails to connect!

Yes, my experience was that it just affected scanning, and only when trying to scan from the printer (not using image capture app on MacBook).
I finally gave up and called in a wonderful local tech guy who did all sorts of reprogramming and got it back on track.

Susan, Thank you. Do you know the essence of what he did? I've had some success since I posted by quitting the scanner app and retrying to scan repeatedly. I'll get a connection, then an abort, then a re-connection on later tries. Very inconsistent but I've eventually been able to scan a few batches.

I don’t know exactly but he did some of everything mentioned here (reinstalled Canon utilities, reprogrammed pathway). It took him about 20 minutes. I hope Apple gets on it from their side too, if there’s an issue. Thanks.
