imageCLASS MF656Cdw says there's a paper jam but there's no paper in there

My scanner feeder keeps saying there is a paper jam. There is no paper in there. I tried cleaning the feeder, I tried turning it off and on. Not sure what else I need to try. It has never worked, I can only scan from the copy machine. Willing to try a few more things before we return it.

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the MF650 series.  The model number should appear on the front of the unit at the lower right.
