Print driver host for 32bit applications has stopped working

I have a user that is getting an error whenever they use the Fax portion of the Canon iR3235 when trying to print from Adobe Acrobat.

32 bit error.jpg

This only happens when trying to insert the Sender Name, Include Company or Include Dept/Div fields into a Cover sheet.

1) Bring up a pdf file

2) Click Print

3) Set printer to the iR3235 FAX

4) Click Properties

5) Go to Cover Sheet tab

6) Go to Cover Sheet Attachment and select Same Sheet to All Destinations(also tried Different Sheet with same result)

7) Select Health Office Cover Sheet(this is a *.cse file that is available but I also tried one of the default Templates with the same result)

😎 Still on Cover Sheet tab, select Settings that is below the Template you just selected.

9) Fill in Sender Name and click Ok

10) Error appears

The user is on Windows 7 64bit. I can perform the same steps on my Windows 10 64bit system, using Adobe Reader DC and get a slightly different error(see below).

Both 32 bit and 64 bit drivers are loaded so how it usually works on our network is if you are using a 32 bit machine, the 32bit drivers are loaded, if 64bit Windows then 64bit should be loaded. This error is confusing. Is the application(Reader or Acrobat Pro) that is failing, is the 32bit driver loaded instead of the 64bit? It works fine as long as you don't enter anything into the Cover Sheet settings. The user said it used to work but I have no way of confirming that as I've never used it before and the only item it seems I can control is the driver which is up to date(FAX_v09.15_x64).

What can I do to solve this or what other areas can I troubleshoot?

Hi, KCTech! Thanks for posting!

While our forum community members are welcome to chime in, Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products. Instead, your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) and we will be happy to provide you with the names of dealers in your area!

We hope this helps!

Since this is a software issue, I disagree but I tried the number anyways. As soon as I mentioned the type of problem, the tech on the other end said they do not usually deal with these type of problems and within a minute he said he could not find anything in his database thus could not help me. We call locally for problems on the machine itself but when it comes to drivers it seems like the Canon programmers should be the ones to go to.

Great support for your products. /s
