I have the image class 753cdw for only 7 months. My experience with Canon genuine cartridges is that they DO NOT come anywhere close to their published page count claims. My experience: - Black Starter cartridge - 1100 pages, Black High Yield Cartridge - 3600 pages (7600 claimed); current Black Standard Cartridge - 800 pages and at 20% remaining (2100 claimed) - Color Starter CMY Cartridges - 1000 pages. And I print draft quality B&W about 30% of the time. I am getting at best 50% of the publish page count. It is almost entirely Black B&W text printing. Nothing fancy. Considering saving my money and ongoing to aftermarket brands. Any suggestions on how to get better page counts?

The standard for rating toner and ink cartridge life is typewriter-like pages......doublespaced lines of 12 point light text. The percentage of ink coverage is actually very low. The mileage you get depends altogether on what you are printing. Using aftermarket ink would not be an answer. And aftermarket ink cartridges may not have all the ink they advertise in them.
