I use iMac with OSX 10.9.2. I installed latest version of MF Toolbox, upgraded the firmware to 15.04. I can scan with USB. Wireless works because I can print with wireless. However, when I disconnect USB and try to scan through wireless network, either from iMac or from MF4890dw, it will scan the first page and hangs for a while, then MF2890 will show "An error has occurred [close]" and the computer will pop up an error window:
"Cannot communicate with the scanner.
The cable may be disconnected, or the scanner may be turned off.
Check the scanner status and try again.
Scanner driver will be terminated.
Error code: 200010"
When I use with win 7- 64 or win8-64, I also get the same question.
"Cannot communicate with the scanner.
The cable may be disconnected, or the scanner may be turned off.
Check the scanner status and try again.
Scanner driver will be terminated.
Error code: 155 0 0"
Any help is appreciated.

Same problem here, with Windows 7. Appeared out of nowhere. Reinstalling drivers and MF Toolbox did not help.

I am having the same problem with Windows 10. Very frustrated. Printer/scanner is hard wired to the network via Ethernet cable, and printing works perfectly. Tried installing Canon patch, and re-installing updated drivers for printer, scanner and fax. Same error. Scan software does start normally, but stops in different places and then throws the CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH SCANNER 155,0,0 error. Meanwhile the printer is connected to the network and printing works perfectly.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The imageCLASS MF4890dw is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!
