Imageclass D420 multipurpose tray to make copies.

Tried using Imageclass D420 multipurpose tray to make copy and all it does is feed paper through without making a copy.  

Is there some secret to making copies using multipurpose feed?

So that I can better assist you, what type of paper are you using in the multipurpose tray of the imageCLASS D420?  Also, do you experience blank copies from the bottom cassette tray?
