How do I reduce PDF file size on docs scanned on my PMX922

1wwjdbro

I deal with a lot of documents and I am finding that when I scan the docs on my MX922 the PDF file size is MUCH larger than the original PDF file size. This is what I am seeing (on a 2 page document):

Original Size (received): 11k

Default Scan (Quick Menu): 1061k

With High Comression (Quick Menu): 116k

From Printer Panel (150 res): 209k

Windows Scan app (150 res): 1495k

Scanning from the Quick Menu with High Compression seems to be the best but it still adds quite a bit to the file size. I dal with many LARGE docs so this is a big issue. Many times the growth in file size prevents me from being able to email the files. Is there anything else I can do? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi 1wwjdbro,

We can set the PDF compression option to HIGH in the IJ Scan Utility, and also select the option to compress scanned images upon transfer to reduce the file size of the PDF. To do this, please follow these steps:

1. Open the IJ Scan Utility.

2. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears.

3. Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window.

4. In the right pane of the window, locate the checkbox for COMPRESS SCANNED IMAGES UPON TRANSFER in the Scan Options section and check it.

5. Next, in the SAVE SETTINGS section, locate the DATA FORMAT field and ensure that the PDF or PDF (Multiple Pages) option is selected, then click the SETTINGS button to the right of the field.

6. In the window that opens, locate the PDF COMPRESSION section, then select HIGH from the drop-down box. Click OK to close the window. You will be taken back to the SETTINGS window.

7. Once all settings have been selected in the SETTINGS window, click the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the changes. The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.

8. Click the DOCUMENT button. Scanning starts. Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed. Scanned images are saved in previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window.

Hope this helps!
