Lawyers scare everyone. That is what I think happens when Canon's executives hear that Linux steals software or some such (we can't copyright, blah, blah). On the basis of lots of research I purchased a Canon Maxify MB2320 device, because it works with Linux, or so I read. And the MB2320 does work. However problems are being created by the interaction between Canon's products (including drivers) and my Linux OS.
The directory /var/tmp is having multiple directories and files written into it. I believe it's by the Canon products. I believe this because I had another manufacturer's printer and it didn't do this.
Now, at Launchpad there is confirmation that the Canon drivers are pretty generic and causing this in multiple Canon products, I believe.
