Canon Maxify MB2060

My printer is on a home network with myself and my wife on it. I have set up the printer to run on wireless and it has worked well for about 2 - 3 years. Last year I noticed that if I disconnected my laptop to take my machine away on a business trip I could not scan when I came back. Reinstalling the software got it going again. This year it has disconnected the scanner whenever either of us restart our machines. The printing side is not affected.

Can anyone advise what setting I may need to change to get it to remember the scanner whenever I shut down. I can always reinstall the software but this should not need doing.
