I like to print "bordered". Problem is the when I print from an SD card inserted in the printer, the borders are way too big. When I print via my phone from the app, the borders are smaller and the size I like.
Is there a way to print directly from the SD card and have the smaller borders ?

Hi Francen! Thanks for contributing to the Canon Community. I see that the borders on your prints are wider than expected when you print directly from an SD card.
I'm sorry. There are no options on the printer that will allow you to adjust the thickness of the borders. When printing from an SD card, the printer prints the image "as is." The only option you have, regarding a border, is to choose whether you want to print the image borderless or bordered.
The manual does mention that if the photos are edited, they may not print properly or show up properly within the Print Preview window. If the photos have not been edited, it may be an issue with how the photos were saved on the SD card. For best results, we recommend that the photo files contain all of the original camera data.
The photo's Aspect Ratio can affect the borders on the page. For example, if the photo's aspect ratio is best for square paper (like 4x4 inch) or 8.5x11 inch paper, the borders will not be even all the way around when printing on the 4x6 inch paper the printer uses. The best way to fix this issue is to print from a computer or use the Canon PRINT app on a mobile device.
One thing you can try is the Cropping feature. When you use the Cropping feature on the printer, anything within the selected area should print on the page (unless it is a file problem). When you have the photo selected, you can press the MENU button to open the options window. Then, select Cropping and use the buttons to select the area you want printed. You'll find instructions for using the Cropping feature on pages 40-41 in the printer's PDF manual. You can use the following link to open and view that manual:

If you need further assistance, please write back. In your reply, please include sample photos (one of a print with the border issue and one of a print that has good borders). We also need to know how the photos were saved on the SD card and whether or not they were edited by a program before being saved on the card.
I hope this information helps. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if you understood the problem.
This has nothing to do with cropping or the image being edited: if I print from the app and choose "bordered" the borders are small, if I copy the same file to the SD card and choose "bordered" on the printer, the borders are bigger.
Is there anybody at Canon that thinks this is odd ?
