The award-winning Sugarcane follows a groundbreaking investigation into cultural genocide perpetrated at Indian residential schools in Canada, and illuminates the enduring love and beauty of an Indigenous community. In this interview, director of photography and co-producer Christopher LaMarca discusses the film and how the Canon EOS C500 Mark II digital cinema camera was able to capture the beauty of the people and scenery of the Sugarcane Reservation. Additionally, the EU-V2 Expansion Unit empowered LaMarca to capture interviews without a sound technician in the room, which was beneficial during intimate interviews where survivors and loved ones were sharing details of their trauma.
