New Canon U.S.A. Homepage

I just got back from vacation, catching up on a million emails.  Plenty of deleting (of course) and quickly reading through the others.  One that I quickly read had something to do with the Canon U.S.A. homepage, and how the next time I sign in I would have to confirm credentials before I enjoyed the new layout.  Don't quote me on the exact wording because I read it fast, hit delete, then went to quickly sign on as soon as I finished the other half million emails... so the wording could be a bit off.

So anyway, I'm at the newly designed Canon site, and signed in on my account.  While I like the general layout, under the "Handpicked For You" section, and further down under the "Deals For You" section... every single item in both sections (total of six different items) are not only items that I already own, but also have registered on the web site under this exact account.  There is not a single suggested item that I do not already own.

Has anyone else noticed this?  Maybe it's just me?

Hey Justadude,

I had left a pm message for Chris, and he said the same thing you mentioned.  I tried clearing the cache on my web browsers as I had done before when this happened, but to no avail this time.  I called the Cannon customer service like you and Chris suggested and the agent asked me to change my password which did the trick.  So if this happens to anyone else, they can first clear their cache and if that doesn't work then change the password.

Cheers,
Joe

Hey Joe,

I'm glad that you got this resolved.  Now that you are able to log in, back to the original question on this post... just out of curiosity if it's just me.  On the main page after you log in, are ALL of the suggested items under Deals For You and Handpicked For You, items that you already own and have registered?  When I log in there are a few different items than there were last week, but they are STILL items that I own and have registered.  It's almost comical.

Hi Gary

I just logged in to the Canon website and  checked the "Deals picked for you " and the items listed were products that I don't own.  They were the R50, Power Shor V1 and R7.  However previously they offered the R6 Mark II,  which I  do own.   I think that everytime you log on AI offers different products, including those that you already own and the AI's algorithm is set up so that it keeps revolving, offering all of Canon’s products regardless if you own it or not.  Canon could very easily program their  AI to first check the registered products on each account,  then only offer products that are not registered under that individual account.   To have an AI tech that's really AI knowledgeable cost money as they are now very much in demand.  As Canon's AI continues to evolve it will be able to disearn the products an account already owns and only offer you products that you dont own.  It seems that Canon's AI is very basic at this time. 😉

Cheers,
Joe

It must be just my login then.  I've been on three times in the past week.  My browser clears cache and cookies every time I close it.  I still see the same six items.  Typical for AI... it's still trying to learn.  lol

Thanks for checking, Joe!  I know now to bypass that first page without looking at anything.
