New Canon U.S.A. Homepage

I just got back from vacation, catching up on a million emails.  Plenty of deleting (of course) and quickly reading through the others.  One that I quickly read had something to do with the Canon U.S.A. homepage, and how the next time I sign in I would have to confirm credentials before I enjoyed the new layout.  Don't quote me on the exact wording because I read it fast, hit delete, then went to quickly sign on as soon as I finished the other half million emails... so the wording could be a bit off.

So anyway, I'm at the newly designed Canon site, and signed in on my account.  While I like the general layout, under the "Handpicked For You" section, and further down under the "Deals For You" section... every single item in both sections (total of six different items) are not only items that I already own, but also have registered on the web site under this exact account.  There is not a single suggested item that I do not already own.

Has anyone else noticed this?  Maybe it's just me?

It is not just Canon that does that, it seems that most retail sites will try to sell you something that you have just bought from them. Go figure.

I've had retailers try to sell me similar items when I log into an account, but never the exact same items... and never ALL of the selected items being the exact same things that I have purchased as recently as 1 year ago, and as far back as 6 years ago.

It's silly... Why would Canon think I want two more of the same camera bodies I already own, and three more lenses that I already own, and the exact same model of printer I purchased last year?  It would make more sense to try and sell newer models of camera bodies, or similar but different lenses, or a printer with improved features.  It almost makes a person look at the first page and think "Nothing new here.  Might as well log off."

I'm not upset at all (kind of funny actually), it simply feels like a mistake on their part, and I was wondering if it was just me that was seeing the same.

Welcome to the AI madness. Like we do not have enough from our own, but now mad machines will go to the next level.

Hi Just added,

I also just got back from a week's vacation and tried to log on to my Canon Account to see my registered products and I keep getting the following message:

Looks like you don't have any registered products

You must have registered products in order to see support options

I have tried logging on using Google, DuckDuckGo and Microsoft and get the same results.   I was thinking of sending one of my cameras for service but I keep getting the aforementioned message.  Is there a new way of signing on to the Canon website?  Am I signing in to the wrong website? Is it still "Canon usa.com" Please advise.

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,

I know you were asking Jkarl, so I hope that you don't mind me stepping in on this one.  If so, please accept my apologies!

The website is here: https://www.usa.canon.com  It looks like you had the "usa" and "canon" parts reversed.

I hope that helps.

Hi just dude,

I signed into  my Account using the same link you posted and got the same results:

Looks like you don't have any registered products

You must have registered products in order to see support options

I tried to activate Chat and got nothing. This seems to happen everytime IT does an update,  it's frustrating.   Thank you for trying.

Maybe try calling their customer service number.  Those people are great to talk to, and very helpful.  If they don't have the answer, they will probably be able to tell you who at Canon to call.

I'd be concerned simply because you DO have registered products, and what happens if you need service on one, but it's no longer listed?

Anyway, here is what I found...

Thanks justadude,

I do have camera bodies and several lenses registered for warranty service and maintenance service when needed.  That's what concerns me the most.  I can't have one of my cameras serviced because it tells me that I don't have anything registered.  🙃  I'll call customer service tomorrow.  😒
