I went to a bogus website that I thought was Canon and got scammed out of $1400.

Do not go near these crooks. They are scammers who tell you your computer is infected. They can fix it but you have to buy 4 Target Gift Cards, for $1400 and then scrape the numbers off and send them pictures. I am a total jerk to fall for something like this scam. Stay away and be cautious. Jerry

Greetings,

I'm not even sure what to say.  I'm sorry.

We hear about this regularly and can only offer the following advice.  Its your responsibility to know who you are communicating with.  Target gift cards?  Red flag.  I hope you get your money back.  I suspect you are in for some lengthy phone conversations with your card issuer / financial institution.  Good luck.

I get those emails or popups all the time and ignore them. "Your XXXXXX has expired. Call us to reinstate your membership." Interesting as I have never had membership in those buying clubs or store. My computer protection is current and I have my computer service under a contract with Staples. What is hilarious is they don't spell my name correctly and/or use lower case and capital letters in the message. Friend, sorry that happened. Hopefully you can get some satisfaction from your CC holder.
