Hi, do I need the CarePAK if I bought the 3-Year General Electronics Protection Plan $40 - $49.99 with my printer from the retailer?  Thanks

Hi HiippChick,

In general, Canon CarePaks are preferred to a retailer's protection plan.  A retailer's protection plan is typically administered by a 3rd party, it also may not be as comprehensive as a CarePak Service contract.  This may not apply in every situation. Would I buy both, probably not.

A CarePak means your dealing directly with Canon.  There is no 3rd party and no middle man.  Getting factory service / support from Canon is better than having to deal with a third party.  There might be some kind of approval process. You may have to ship the device somewhere, etc.  With a CarePak, you make one call.  Here is the Carepak Plus terms and conditions of service.
