Wanting To Buy A Wide Angle Lens: Recommendations for EOS R6 Mark II

All,

I am wanting to buy a wide angle lens to use with my R6M2. I would like the find a lens that would be good in low light situations. I have looked at the RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM, EF16-35mm 1:4 IS USM, and the EF16-35mm F/2.8L III. Any recommendations regarding these lenses? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Reese,

Not sure if you made the plunge yet on a wide lens? I went the EF route with the 16-35 F/4 L (adapted of course).I was looking at the RF 14-35 L lens and even the 16-28 IS STM.  Got it a few days ago, still need to take it out for a full ride, but initial impressions are it's a fantastic lens. Got one used, fantastic condition wih original packaging for a great price. Many to be had out there I found. I'm gonna edit some raw images soon, but even the JPGS were sweet. I really like the newer RF lenses a lot, but there's room for some love for the last generaiton lenses too. 😁 Just my experience and thoughts. Good Luck!

Mr. Walleye73,

Thank you very much for your reply. I looked very seriously at the EF lenses out there, but felt more comfortable buying an RF lens. I took all the information in this thread, an email I sent to Brian Worley, and the reviews by Ken Rockwell and decided to purchase a used an RF15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM. Everybody's information was fantastic and appreciated.  The RF14-35mm was my favorite, but the F2.8 on the RF15-35mm was the deciding factor. I just felt that if I was going to shoot in low lights I needed all the help that I could get. The RF15-35mm is heavier and bigger, but I could not get away with not having the F2.8. There was a difference in price between the two lenses, but the owner was wanting to sell his RF15-35mm and had lower the price significantly over a 48 hour period. He was not using it because it did not meet his area of interest in photography. Purchased the lens off FaceBook Marketplace. I probably told you more that you care to know. Happy with the purchase, glad I made the leap.

Nice!!

I forget about Marketplace sometimes as another resource to finding gear. You got a great lens there and the 2.8 will be your friend for sure! Enjoy!

MrWalleye73,

Thank you. I took some pictures before I paid the gentleman. For an untrained eye like I have the lens looks new. The box was in good shape and the camera bag had not been taken out of the wrapper. Looking forward to using it. It is the fastest lens that I have. Thank you for your message.
