Hi! I've been thinking about picking up photography for fun and im unsure what camera to buy I want to use it for concerts so I've been trying to find a decent point and shoot camera to buy preferably under 800 but i don't mind spending a little more!

Will the P&S camera offer a decent telephoto lens unless you are in front of the stage? Others can chime in here.

Welcome,
Until recently, point and shoot cameras have been on hiatus, but they are reappearing now.
Generally a point and shoot camera refers to something compact with a fixed lens. Meaning you can't take it off or change it. These are small and pocketable.
Canon has recently reintroduced the Elph 360hs-a.
It's available in silver or black for $379. Silver is available from Canon USA. I saw the black model at B&H. Just got released the end of September.

The Canon V1 was released in Feb 2025. It's a completely different type of camera and about 2 and 1/2 times the price.

The latter is not going to be something that slips into a shirt pocket. However, it packs a serious punch, increased low light performance, 4K video, high frame rates, Cool wireless features, Canon's latest AF technology, and more. It leans towards content creators with a focus on video. It takes beautiful photos too.
Canon is rumored to be working on a new G series power shot which will focus on photography, a real photocentric first camera. However, there has been no announcement or anticipated release date at this time.
Canon's main focus this week: The R6mkIII is going to be announced on Thursday 11/6.
Back to compacts. The G7x mkIII is back in productions, but Is not readily available. It's very very hard to come by unless you want to purchase one grey market, which I do not recommend. It's literally a "gone in 60 seconds" if you find a USA model in stock somewhere.

Will this change with the holidays approaching, that's hard to say. 🤔
The R50 (photo focused )and R50v (video focused) are readily available but these are interchangeable lens aps-c based body's. The body's themselves are below your budget, but once you add a lens you'd be slightly over budget. However they do offer the flexibility of changing lenses. I'm only mentioning them because they could meet your price criteria with some growth potential. These are also not pocketable.
You did indicate point and shoot was your primary goal. Maybe you can elaborate on the types of venues you visit. Are you shooting from a seat or standing at the stage? At least this way we'll have a better idea about your shooting style and more about the type of camera you're looking for. 🙂
