Regarding the Canon R7... as far as brands are concerned, does Canon recommend SanDisk or Lexar or Sony (or another brand altogether)? Does it really even matter? Thanks!

Greetings ,

For the R7 I would recommend SanDisk and ProGrade.  Consider going with smaller capacity. UHS-II cards v90 rated.  While you can use UHS-I cards, you'll get more life out of UHS-II cards in the long run with this body and probably the next.  v60 cards are also acceptable, but v90 will offer a higher degree of future proofing.  You'll also get maximum performance when shooting high frame rates and high resolution video.

Watch for sales at B&H and Adorama.  It's usually possible to buy two packs at very good prices.

Take a look at rfshooters. Pick R7 and memory card.

I couldn't find what you're referencing. I suppose you could have been more helpful if you took a little time??? Don't know why you didn't. Perhaps a little more effort/courtesy would have been appreciated.

Great advice from the others and I would add to be sure to either purchase from one of the major camera dealers OR a trusted local store.  Memory cards are some of the most commonly counterfeited items available and Amazon is a VERY BAD source for memory cards because of this issue.

SD cards aren't quite as big of a problem because of the simpler and robust card connector but for cameras that use CF type cards it is very easy for pins to be bent with poorly produced counterfeit cards which will result in very expensive damage.  Buying online except from B&H or Adorama is too big of a risk.
