Comparable camera to Canon G-12 or G-16.

I have used the G-12 and G-16 to take pictures of home scenes and close-ups of flooring issues in homes. I am looking for another camera that can take photos in low light and produce good close-ups. I want a point and shoot with auto focus since I have a stigmatism and can use a view finder, but would consider any with good macro qualities.

Greetings,

If you purchase new and want something in your hands now, the PowerShot V1 is your only option.  It does not have a flash or a viewfinder.

There's a rumor Canon will announce a Powershot G series later this year, but specs are not known at this time.

The V1 is designed for photo and video with a leaning towards video.  The G series is rumoured to be more photography focused.  This doesn't mean it will have a flash or viewfinder, but it's possible.

I suggest you visit a local retailer and look at the V1.  The G series has no scheduled announcement or release date currently.  Price is also unknown.

Other options.  Buying any of Canon's previous PowerShot models can be hit or miss.  You can order a product that is backordered, but there is no guarantee if or when it may become available.

Thanks Rick, but I would need a flash. Sometimes I have to photograph crawl spaces and poorly lit rooms.
