too much flash cannon eos rebel

I have too much flash in automatic mode with by EOS REBEL.   PIctures too light!  Any ideas?

Flash exposure compensation - turn it down.

Which model rebel, you may also be able to select a fill flash.

Use PROGRAM mode & learn to use Exposure Compensation AND Flash Exposure Compensation. Once you get a handle on that you can learn how to use it in Tv or Av too.
