problems importing to iPhoto, LR and PS

What are my options? Upgrade LR? Or choose another such as Capture One?

It is still a "so what" point.  If a 16mp camera is making a 300+ mb file why is it surprising that a 30mp camera's file is larger? Adobe will release routines for the 5d4 cr2 and dual pixel RAW files with an upcoming release.  It will work with LR6 and LR CC but not LR5 or back.

If you want small cr2 files go get a used 1D with 4 mp.
