i have a 5d mk4 with an announced rate of 7fps. but i can just ger 1fps. what may be the problem?

Besides what BurnUnit said, Digic is *highly* optimised for JPEGS. RAW's are always slower.

Robert, where did you see, or think you saw, that spec?  I don't think it affects FPS but it does affect the buffer.

I think you've uncovered the right way to think about this. The images don't write directly to the card. They write first to the buffer and then on to the card after that.

So the max writing speed of a CF/SD card that meets the camera's buffer-to-card writing speed matters.
