I have a canon 600d. When I turned my dslr on. the red light didnt light up. then no LCD display. but when you click something. it beeps. I've read other problems but all solutions are for 650ds and further. because they had proximity sensor that had been covered. but 600d doesnt have any above the viewfinder. I tried several things like removing lens, cards and batteries. having the batteries at 100%. changing cards. changing batteries. Had turned the dslr off then removed batt and card. then turned diak to program mode then turned on then pressed shutter button to 15+ secs. but still didnt worked. my dslrs over its warranty so cant have it fixed rightaway. thanks for the replies and answers. do hope to find solution/s about this problem

Are you using a genuine Canon battery? What brand, type and size of memory card are you using? Is it a full size SD card or a mini SD with an adapter? Have the memory cards been formatted in the camera?

There are also micro switches on both the battery and SD card slot doors. If the doors aren't fully closed or the switches have failed it will prevent the camera from turning on. They're difficult to see in any detail but you might look closely to see if you can spot any obvious damage to the switches, or the little pins on the doors that activate them.

Hi, did you get your problem fixed?

I have the same problem. I am in Australia. If anyone can help.

Thank you in advance.

"I am in Australia."

This is a USA based forum, I doubt any of us here will know the correct source for you to use. If you have tried all the easy free stuff, you need to contact Canon.

You tried, new fully charged battery, new known good SD card, no third party lenses or grips etc attached to the camera, all that kind of things.

the problem seem to occur anywhere whether I am in the USA or Australia, so the location of the forum is irrelevant.

I took my camera to a specialist and the problem seems to be common among this line, which lets moisture in and eventually ruins the motherboard.

I just bought a new camera and fixing the motherboard was way too expensive.

Here, you are welcome from Australia.

It is relevant as stated since most of us have no idea of Canon authorized repair sources in Australia which was the meaning of the advice. Not the location of use.

Anyway glad you got it sorted. Happy shooting! Smiley Happy

Hi, I have the exact same problem. The battery is charged and I've tried a new fully charged battery but when I switch on the display does not switch on. All I get is a beep when any buttons are pressed. Has anyone been able to resolve the issue?
