Hey guys! I own an R5 and I was doing some searching through the forums because I saw that many cameras, even the R8 I believe, can display the live focal length in the EVF. Is there a reason this isn't an option on the R5, and is it possible that Canon will ever add it in a future firmware? On a similar note, is it possible for them to add a shutter sound like they have for the R5 II through a firmware update? I find the super fast burst shutter sound really satisfying and it would be really cool to get some feedback when I press the shutter. Is there any chance that these might be added eventually, or historically have features such as these not been added via firmware and instead added into a future version of the camera? Is there anyone I can contact to inquire about this or is it just not feasible? Thanks for your insight in advance!

Not likely now Canon will add new features to the R5, it's successor(R5II) is already a year old. They may be able to but they prefer you buy the new version.

I also wish they would this to the R5. My R6mii has it and it is very handy.
You can go the website and make a suggestion to add this feature to the R5, nothing may happen but at least we brought it to their attention.
Go the canon USA home page and in the upper left corner there is a feed back button, click and fill out the form.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for. I found this in Nina Bailey's R5 manual.
"Something which I have set up all the time on my
camera, is found within the shooting info display and
that is the focus distance display which can appear in
the viewfinder. This is only available if you are using
RF lenses. I have it set up on Always, which gives me a
scale where I can see where the focusing is currently
set and if it is set to the minimum focusing distance
on the far left of the scale and it is not focusing this
indicates to me quite clearly that I am
too close for the lens."
Here is the link to the Canon Manual.

I think he's refering to focal length display, not focus distance. This is new in the R5II, see this page from R5II manual.

I stand corrected I misinterpreted the problem. My R6Mii has the feature and I do use it on occasion.

yea that's what i was thinking. it's quite unfortunate cause even the lower end cameras like the r8 have the focal length thing. i don't need it but it would be fun to have. shutter sound is also fun in my opinion. i submitted feedback but very low likelihood they'll even see it let alone respond. thanks for the reply!
