Why aren't my videos and images fullscreen on canon rebel t5i?

I just got a canon t5i rebel and i may have presed the wrong button, and my pictures and video went from being shot on full screen to what seems like an in camera widescreen setting. Please help me resolve this issue because I am completely lost.

The resolution for videos and photos are set independently.  Both settings can be changed and set in your menu screens.  However, when you use "Live View" shooting mode to take photos, the resulting photos can be cropped to a 16:9 ratio,  instead of the more conventional 3:2 ratio.

To stop this behavior with still photos, take the camera out of "Live View" mode prior to activating the shutter.
