Buy a 3rd party manual (you can find them on Amazon) and sit with it open on your lap, working through all of the chapters and all of the camera menus, practicing as you go along. Take the camera with you every day and give it a good workout in many different situations. Join an on-line photo sharing community, such as flickr, where you will find many users and groups dedicated to that camera. Study the exif data on their photos. You will learn by doing...
