Upgrade Advice from EOS 500D and EF lenses

Hi All,

I have an old Canon EOS 500d camera and the following lenses;

Canon EFS 24mm f2.8 STM, Canon EF 50mm F2.8, Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 mkiii, Canon efs 18-55mm f5 kit lense.

What would you say the best upgrades are to my kit?  I have always thought that the focussing on the 500d could be better so I wonder what would be best to upgrade to.  I would also like to swap the prime lenses and get a zoom lense that would be good for landscapes and maybe some portrait type shots.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts, happy to buy used or new kit,

Mark

Can you please provide the FULL NAME of the lenses. Canon has made multiple lenses with those names so please clarify. Also Canon hasn’t made an EF 50mm F/2.8 lens. They’ve made an EF 50mm F/1.8 and F/2.5 Compact Macro lens. The EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 lens lineup is very poor optically and uses a very slow AF motor. It would limit your new camera more and limiting your current camera. Are you looking to stay with a DSLR or move to Mirrorless. Canon has discontinued DSLRs and EF/ EF-S lenses. Older EF/ EF-S lenses can be adapted to the EOS R series. But limitations do exist with older lenses. Not all features will be available. Do you want to stay with APS-C or move to Full Frame. Also what is your budget please provide a $$ amount. Saying “won’t break the bank” or “as high as the sky” is not a $$ amount. Do you have anything else accessory wise like an external speedlite/ flash.

Best least expensive  best bang for the buck is the R7 with kit  lens. You don’t have any great lenses to drag along. Time to move on.
