Trouble wirelessly connecting 6D Mark II to Mac computer

I've watched several videos but my experience I s not matching up. I have Wireless enabled on the camera, and get to the "Register the camera" page and then to the page showing the network settings to use.

If I understand the process correctly. I should be able to see the camera show up on my computer as a wireless device seeking to connect. Not sure if they mean Internet or bluetooth, but either way, the camera does not show up.

What am I missing?

Thanks for joining the conversation, Skip70!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which version of macOS is running on your Mac. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Thanks and have a great day!

Thanks. Mac iOS is Sequoia 15.4.1

Not sure what else I can add. The camera does show up on my iPhone but that does not help me since I want to hook it up to computer so I can see the images in larger format on the monitor. I am doing a micro adjustment of all the lenses and it is sure easier to display that way than constantly running the memory card back nd forth betwen the camera and the computer.

Hi Skip70,

I just ran through this so I could assist you.

The camera is the host, not vice versa.  This is why the camera's screen states "Connect Device To Camera"

When broadcasting your camera's wi-fi will appear as a selectable host on your system (PC or MAC)

Example:

I see you have given your device a custom name.  You have also disabled security.

Reset the network settings on your camera.  Just go with defaults.  On the connection page, select the computer icon.  On the next page, your camera will assume you want to connect to the same wireless network the PC is on.  You are not since the camera will be acting as host.  Press "Switch Network"  This changes the camera to broadcast (ad-hoc) network.  The camera's SSID name and password will display.  Now look for its SSID name in the list of available networks on your computer. Select it, and enter the password when prompted.  Once the pairing process starts, you need to press "ok" on the camera's LCD to complete the connection.  Now open the EOS Utility.

Maybe I'm not clear on where to look on my Mac, but I don't see the camera showing up anywhere as a selectable host.

I don;'t know why this forum does not allow me to edit a post, so doing a second one. It seems to me that there has to be some kind of wireless or bluetooth "channel" shared between the two devices for the computer to even see the camera as host.

Made some progress. The camera host finally showed up after several minutes. However, when I try to open the EOS application, it asks for Continent>Country, but then closes each time.I might have to contact Canon.

All I really want to do is simply view my shots on screen so I can make micro adjustments without having to take out the memory card each time and plug into computer. Not sure if the EOS is needed for that.
