I accidentally purchased a gray market EOS 90D. (The serial number starts with 3030.) It's well out of warranty, has failed, and needs service. However, it appears Canon will only service camera bodies that are registered, and the website will not permit me to register a gray market body.
How do I get my 90D serviced? I talked with a reputable independent shop, and they can't service it because (they said) it's incompatible with their alignment software.
I see this same question was asked 8 years ago, but I think the situation has changed. Back then it was possible to send in a body for non-warranty repair without registering it.

I have a similar problem - Gray market 90D that needs some repair due to an ERR 01. Did the form work ? What was the resolution for you ? (Yes I am reviving that post LOL)

I did A Stupid. After several weeks of poking and prodding websites and making phone calls, I sent the 90D to a fly-by-night repair shop that happily offered to repair it; they also accepted my beloved 70-200 f/2.8L lens that Canon refused to repair because it was “end of life.” The shop did good work — or seemed to — but I later found out they do their repairs by holding onto the device for months until another of the same camera comes in for repair, and they pilfer parts from it. And so on. Like check kiting, but for camera equipment.
If you find a repair shop, heed it's BBB rating. (This place was rated "F.")
I do not recommend that solution.

Use the method suggested by @Stephen .
Download and complete the form. Package your body, insure it and send it to Canon. The address where to send it is on the form.

FWIW, i bought a P&S camera when the lens wouldn't retract. Camera shop said they could fix it for $100; camera package cost $85.
