EOS R6 metering and AF options limited after firmware upgrade

I'm stumped!  I received the 200-800 rf lens and decided to upgrade my firmware of my R6.  I was on ver 1.7 and upgraded to v 1.9.  I use dual back button focus with the AF-On but as meter and AF start and the * button as the eye detection.  I was surprised that when I went to v1.9 the "detail set" of the Metering and AF start now only includes 3 options vs the many that was previously offered.  I'm now hesitant to upgrade the firmware of my R7 since I find the detailed set gives me more options for shooting.

Has anyone else seen this?

The number of options in the detail settings for the AF and metering start function hasn't changed for EOS R6. I have just checked my EOS R6 with firmware 1.8.4 and it shows three options:-

  • AF operation
  • AF method
  • Servo AF characteristics

This matches what I recall was always there for the EOS R6. The later cameras like the EOS R7 and also EOS R6 Mark II that I own have many more options for the detail settings.
