I want to use AEB to get 3 bracketed shots. In low speed continuous I have to wait for all 3 shots to finish. From what I can find, I have to switch to high speed and hold the shutter button while all 3 are taken. If I let off too soon there is one (or two) waiting. If I hold it too long the sequence starts again. Is there alternative that I'm missing?
It seems the right solution is to allow single shot or low speed continuous to fire at either the high speed mechanical shutter speed, or even an option for electronic speed. Has Canon been asked for that? Are they ever responsive to suggestions?
(Focus stacking works like it should -- electronic speed for whatever number of frames is needed. AEB could be the same.)

Try using the 2/10 second shutter delay.

I have seen that "solution" but it isn't acceptable. If I'm shooting a bird that moves quickly -- or even a child -- I don't want the 2 second lag before the first image. There is no obvious reason to not take all the bracketed shots as fast as possible with a single press of the shutter button. Seems like a software design error to me.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the camera firmware. That’s how cameras work.
What drive mode are you using? Single or Continuous? When you select Single, then it only takes a single shot when you press the shutter. When you select Continuous, the camera will capture a continuous burst of multiple shots.
AF mode and Drive Mode are not one and the same.
BTW, I fail to see the point of capturing a bracketed exposure of a fast moving subject. Are you experiencing exposure issues?
