R5 and Interfit S1 strobe not working together

Trayjr

  • I recently replaced my old 5D Markii with a R5. I can’t get my Interfit S1 strobe to work with it. Am I missing something in the settings or is it even compatible or do I need a different hot shoe remote. The pins on the two cameras hot shoes look the same so I’ve no clue what is going on

You might need the Canon AD-E1 hot shoe adapter.  R series bodies have a similar, but different hot shoe design.  I found an article about the strobe.

If you have the original EOS R5 not the EOS R5 Mk2, the Interfit should work.

Make sure that the shutter mode is set to mechanical or 1st curtain electronic modes. Flash will not be fired if the shutter mode is set to electronic.

Also make sure you have set a shutter speed of 1/125th or slower. if your Interfit triggers only has a central pin then you might need to set the exposure simulation to disable too.
