R5 Mark II Buffer shows 86 shots but I get 153

Just got my new R5ii along with a Delkin Devices POWER G4 2.0 (160 GB) CF Express card.

The card can support 805MB/s sustained write speeds but the buffer shot count in the EVF shows only 86 shots.

The camera is in High Speed Continuous+ and Electronic Shutter, shooting in RAW and only writing to the CF Express card.

My own rough test shows that the camera is doing around 153 shots before it hits the buffer.

I understand that the camera won't show any number higher than 99 on the display.

So why am I only seeing 86 shots? Is something throttling it or is it just a display 'bug'?

Would a VPG400 card make any difference? I only shoot stills.

Max available frame rates can and do drop when the camera battery charge drops below 50%.

I'm sure I'm still getting around 153 shots before hitting the buffer even with the battery below 50%. Why does the camera still show 86 shots though if it's actually handling more?

What are you describing, 86? Is that the remaining shots?

No, 86 is the buffer count. The number next to the remaining shot count.

That’s what I thought.  Why is that a problem?  Is it stuck on 86? It should return to 99 once it writes the buffered images to the memory card.

It’s never been higher than 86. Not sure why as the card would appear to be fast enough for it to display 99.

Did you check the specs?

That’s mechanical shutter but electronic shutter should still do 93 shots.
