I need to send in my R6 for repair, it's less than 6 months old so still under warranty. I don't understand whether I need to pay for the UPS shipping, and if yes, why. I'm a Silver member. Would appreciate any advice

Greetings,

Shipping To> is your responsibility.  Pack the return well and carefully. I recommend buying insurance.

A warranty repair will be completed free of charge.  In this case Canon normally pays return shipping.

If you don't want to pay shipping, you should be able to drop the camera off in Burbank, California or Newport News Virginia.  There may be other locations but those are the two that I would deal with.

Start by registering your camera on your MyCanon Acct.  You can initiate the inspection/repair there.  Providing proof of purchase is recommended.  You are given an option to upload a receipt.

Thank you so much. I've gone through all those steps and ready to ship. I just find it pretty rich that I have to pay for the shipping when a brand new camera starts malfunctioning after a few months while under warranty, in addition to not having my primary camera available during the busiest season and perhaps having to rent one.

Greetings,

Happy to help.  If photography  puts food on the table, I suggest  you have a back up camera, be a CPS member and have carepaks.  In this case shipping is free both ways and loaner cameras are made available to you.
