My New Canon FT QL: will an FD to FL mount adapter work?

dolunmo2

I just bought a Canon FT QL, and it came with its stock lens, the Canon 50mm 1 1.8, which I discovered is an FL mount type, but the camera also came with a Vivitar MC 135mm f2.8 Telephoto lens, which according to some places is an FD mount type, could I buy a simple FD to FL mount adapter? And could anyone confirm those are the mounts of those two lenses

It is my understanding that the FD lens should be able to mount to an FL mount body. The primary difference is that there will be stop down metering when using an FD lens on an FL body.

The FT-QL came before FD mounts, so it's an FL mount body. It only provides for manual stop-down metering. You can use FD lenses also, but they won't make it an auto-stop down metering camera.

It doesn't matter if the Vivitar lens has an FL (made before there was FD) or an FD mount. On the FT-QL, both work the same way....manual stop-down metering.

You have to determine  if the Vivitar has a Canon mount or some other camera brand. If it's a Canon mount, you're all set. There is no need for an adapter for FL-to-FD.
