M100 extra lens issue

Hi all, new member so be gentle, I have an EOS M100, quite happy with my 15-45mm lens, thought I would try another lens. Got a very good condition 80-200mm with the M42-EOS M adapter included. The issue I am having is that the lens fits etc and an image displayed and can focus manually, but, when the shutter button is pressed, no photo is taken?

Any help would be greatly received.

The camera doesn't know that a lens is attached when you use a simple adapter for M42 lenses.

First, make sure the camera in not in the green "A" mode. Then look in the camera menu for Custom Functions and under CF II there will be an option for shutter release when no lens is attached.
