I spilled coffee on my xti camera and now it won't turn on

Not good.  Sounds like it may have kicked the bucket.

Stop trying to turn it on, because if it is wet when it gets turned on, something is likely to burn out, if not already.  Take the battery out.  Set the camera in dry place, where it can dry out for a couple of months, and then try it next year.
