Hey! I’ve been using an EOS T3i and a Nikon D3500 for a few years now. I wanted to upgrade and wondered what newer camera(s) would be best for concert photography.

What is your budget for a camera or a kit (camera + lens). Note EF or EF-S lenses can be adapted to RF cameras. But NOT all features will be available with older lenses such as 12 fps or movie servo. EF or EF-S lenses with older and slow AF motors such as Arc Form Drive (AFD, EF Mount ONLY), Micro Motor & Micro Motor USM don't support 12 fps or Movie Servo AF. Also Ring Type USM lenses released prior to 2009 also don't support Movie Servo AF or 12 fps. Older lenses that don't support those features will jump from aperture setting to another and snap back and forth to acquire focus. Newer lenses slowly transition between subjects and switch between different apertures seamlessly instead of having jumps in exposure level.

Unless you are paid by the venue, most concerts will prohibit dslr/mirrorless cameras, especially with bigger lenses. Expecially concerts that do bag checks. You don't want to be in a situation where you have to leave the camera in the car and risk it getting stolen (people see folks at venue parking lots putting away prohibited items into trunks). Just check the venue rules.
However, if you can take a camera in and your budget allows, the R5/6 cameras do great in low light (compared to my 5DmarkIV).
